@Mheiron would love to see a closer view of that V1-code on the top line. That does not look like an "X" in the photo (compared to other X's in the tag), more like a "W".

In post #9, you'll get a full decode. It is a A41 White Hat Special, but those could also come with a black vinyl top with V1X.

However if that is a "W", then it started life with a white vinyl top. Nice car.

I'm just throwing this out there. There have been many typos on fender tags, where the tag and broadcast sheet disagree. On one car, that I know the complete history of, the tag was wrong.

Car got here late last night. It’s rainy in Texas today so haven’t tried to take new photos.
Drove it a few miles in the dark and it seems to go down the road OK.
The build sheet was in the trunk. Carefully stowed But still pretty rough.

H9G: 383 330HP OR 335HP 1-4BBL 8 CYL E63 on the tag and H in the VIN only equals 383-4. It doesn't tell us which assembly the car got. 1969 Chargers with automatics got the turquoise 330 horse version and there is no orange 335 horse assembly with A/C in '69. The 330 horse assembly is confirmed by the 899 engine assembly code on the BS. Online decoders are incapable off making these types of distinctions.

605 is the scheduled production date and unlikely it is the actual production date. BS indicates the car was built 'late'.

Thanks for the response, so if that's the case, why do they repeat the T5? I'm very curious.

St.Louis plant coded both colors whether the car had a vinyl top or not. Hamtrack cars drop the top color from the tag if the car had a vinyl top.

The difference is simply a coding nuance. St. Louis plant even coded two colors on convertibles.

BS shows it's a W

In this particular case, an on-line should be able to "if-then-else" the H51 to kick out the possibility of an orange 335, but true - most can't/don't.

I just use the decoder to help people here with a basic tag decode. It gets the basics correct.

I didn't make the decoder, maybe you should send them an email with your thoughts.

On line decoders are broad based simple input/output with no logical if/then, and/or or critical thinking. It's not their function to offer context or variations between years.

I’ve been busy and finally remembered to post more photo.
I changed out the 4:11 ring and pinion for 3:25. I also swapped to Green axle bearings and rebuilt / turned the rear brakes.
The newredline tires are at the shop and will get installed this weeken hopefully.
