Hi!

I wonder if anyone has bought a new bumper from AMD? How was the fit and quality??

I am thinking of buying one but I would like to know first how the quality and fit are..

Thanks! :)
Best regards Mattias

I bought a front and rear for my 69' roadrunner. Quality seems good. As far as the fit, I haven't fitted them on the car just yet. Hopefully sometime this century I'll get them on..LOL

I've bought them for several cars and all in all, they're pretty good. I know I've had a LOT worse when a chrome shop would try to straighten and re-do one, at a much higher cost. I don't have one to compare right now, but IIRC, they are a little thinner, but it's not something really noticable unless you do some measuring. (Or get involved in a bumper bender in which case it may bend a little easier lol.)

I have a new AMD rear bumper for my 69 RR, I haven't fit it yet but it sure looks nice sitting out in the garage.

I think you can count on AMD parts fitting. I don't have their bumpers but I have used other large body parts that fit very nice, a bumper should be a slam dunk for them to get right.

Thanks for the answers! It sounds good, and I will order a pair soon! =)

Best regards Mattias!

Let us know. Ive thought of getting them myself. My original plan was to have mine replated with some extras but after talking to tricitys guys at the charlotte autofair, im not sure. I wanted the holes in the front bumper welded up to eliminate the rubber piece but was not encourage by the response i got. I was basically told they wouldnt gaurantee the chrome would look right by doing this. I had assumed filling in the holes would be straight forward for someone with a good rep that does it for a living.

I beg to differ, Ive got some AMD parts going on my car and the body guys are having a nightmare. Lots of cutting/filling and not correct radii, rounded areas that should be straight. But I can't say anything about the bumpers. :angry9:

Just a curiosity question. Have you provided feedback to AMD? I have no direct expedience with them but my friend, who is a distributor for them, indicated that they were very interested in fitment problems.

I hope that you are able to the the car back together before the door rate eats up the vehicle value.

I'd have to agree with Finallygotmine on fitment. Being well over half the metal on my RR is AMD, I can honestly say pretty much every piece needed some love to fit right. The fitment was better than their competitor's I've used in the past, but some panels required some surgery for sure..I guess on the bright side, it kept my welding/fabrication skills rolling.

As far as providing feedback, yes I did. Detmatt with his 68' Roadrunner and me with my 69' both had issues where the quarter tucked under the rear bumper corners. The AMD full quarters don't have enough of a 90* in that area and the inside of the bumper corner will hit the quarter in that area. AMD told me they trial fitted those stampings on a real car with no issues and have never heard that complaint before. I find that pretty hard to believe considering we both had the same issue.

Either way, again I had to break out some more heavy duty fab/welding skills to make it look and fit right in that area. I never did get a call back from AMD like they said they would. Like I said earlier, pretty much every panel needed some sort of work done to it, but after you do this for a while you honestly come to expect it.

Still happy with the bumpers though....

I've seen their new bumpers at a show this past summer, and while they did look pretty good, a decent plater's work will look better for the chrome. If you don't have access to a reasonably priced plater locally, then these would be fine.

They all come from AMD, even auto body specialists get them from AMD. We just got front and rear for a 69 Charger. A good local body shop has a tweaker to make them correct; but then a Mopar body ain't perfect, from the factory.
