New holley 750 problems.....need help

Might be worth changing the oil again. I've dealt with power valve gasket issues before (with an electric fuel pump). It was leaking so bad it totally diluted my oil. You have to watch that gasket, if you don't have the right one, or are re-using one. Sometimes the valve will reach the end of it's threading before sealing up against the gasket.

Alright guys, I think I found the problem. When I switched pwr valves the gasket wasn't seated around the valve properly and was slightly canted causing the leak. Getting ready to put it back on the car and fire her up. I'll post the results of the start up.

Good you found something...

She fired right up and ran smooth, checked the fuel levels and am good to go. Then I go to leave for work and I start backing up and it backfires and dies!!!! My nepehw is going to come over friday and we are going to look at the timing. We think we may be off a little bit. But the main thing is no fuel leaks!!!! :hello2:

Timing was retarded a few degrees, we got it locked in at 15 inital and 36 total. Might have to post a vid!!!

Glad its good to go! I hope..... Just a quick "heads-up", Holley floats like about 4-5 psi of pressure. My old Cheby put out 12 psi to the Rochester, so my Holley flooded right away. I don't know what fuel pump you are using, but a pressure check might be in order to insure you arent blowing the float valve off of its seat.

Not necessarily, it really all Depends on which needle & seats your using, what style/model carb your using, but I've ran 6-7psi on most all my 2300, 4150, 4500 & 4165 series Holley's/Quickfuel carbs, but also use a bypass style regulator & return back to the tank, always too... Currently with an Aeromotive 12psi 240 gph pump & Regulator... also the original Carter Hemi mech. fuel pump, puts out as much as 8.5psi & they used Holley's in certain applications with that pump too, without a regulator even... go figure

Interesting, I'm just running a mechanical fuel pump. I've been driving it for a few days now with no problems, thanks for everyone that commented.
