New LED headlights by Holley?

Came across this this morning on YouTube. Have you guys seen this? Holley came out with modern LED headlights that look like the original light and don't require hacking to fit. A little spendy, but could be well worth it if you actually drive your ol' B-body.

That would be a reasonable upgrade. However, Holley's own site says that the $179.95 price is for a single light - sold individually. They are in pre-order status right now, coming out in January.

Only the halos are LED, not the actual headlight beam. And they're much cheaper from Octane Lighting.

No way I would spend that kind of money on a single headlamp. Really how much night driving do we do in our cars? For what I need GE NightHawk Halogens with relays are a great upgrade at a reasonable cost.

LED's don't create heat.

DO NOT use LED lights in a car that sees winter weather. Your lights WILL freeze.

I put Hella H4 sealed beam conversion lamps in all my sealed-beam cars (including my Charger), and I take out the H4 halogen bulbs and replace them with H4 HID bulbs for the low beams, and an H4 LED bulb for the high beam (for instant-on; no heat required since my low beams will stay clear).

The HIDs create heat so they will stay clear in snow and ice; they throw a TON of light; the H4 conversion Hellas put the light in the right place (not in oncoming traffic's eyes); once lit, an HID takes much less power than a halogen. They only draw power during the 5-10 second ignition time - HID is an arc-light; a tiny lightning bolt between the 2 posts inside the light, instead of a metal filament that glows when current runs through it. You can pick your "color"; I use 4300K (Kelvin) because that is the closest to daylight. Stay away from blue lights (higher K numbers) because the human eye reacts poorly to blues; lower K numbers move you towards ambers which I like in my high beams (like the Charger) just for the color contrast, and to help cut through fog. I run 3000k high beam color temperature high beams, and 4300k low beams, in the Charger. Glass lenses, metal reflectors, no cutting the buckets, they drop right in. There is some wiring involved with HIDs - ballasts and relays - but that stays hidden in my Charger and the only giveaway is a single wire going to the + post on the battery. Everything else is either hidden, or blends in very well.

True. But the Morimoto deal is for two lights and also includes the H4 wiring. I don't know what the wiring harness would cost separately but that may account for the increase in price over the Holley site.

Hey guys, I know squat about this subject, haven't done any real research yet, so just wanted to say THANK YOU for the info to alternatives that are available rather than just saying 'that sucks'. If Holley could come up with a package deal at a lower price, it might be a viable option.

Well, I just installed the headlight relay kit from CrackedBack and discombooberated my ammeter
so I'm ready for Halogens! Aint no way no how I'm gonna be puttin them thar things on my car!

Once you have the headlight relays installed, then the regular halogen headlights become much brighter as they are getting full 12v power to them.

Napa has the lights for 100 each. If you drive at night, I would recommend this as your 1st up grade. We do drive our car quite a bit so that means there will be night driving. I am very confident with my new lights.
