hi all, my name is nick from saint paul mn. Im driving to Missouri this weekend to buy a 1970 coronet. my plan is to take a 360 magnum engine from my old Durango, put a ton of mods in it, stick it to a manual trans and drop it in the coronet. ok, I know this a huge project but I have plenty of time and not too concerned about cost. ive been doing a lot of research and cant seem to find anyone hooking up a manual trans to a magnum. I know ill have to get a aftermarket ecu and plenty of other stuff but im getting hung up on the trans part of it. any help would be greatly appreciated!!

welcome to FBBO

Hi Nick! Sounds like a fun plan. But I have to ask, if you're not concerned about cost, why not install a new generation hemi instead of the 360?

or an old school 383/440 hooked up to a 4 spd.
btw, welcome to the forums!

ive got a lot of history with this motor, and I think with enough upgrades it could be a monster!! its not that im not concerned about costs its just im not trying to whip this car together in a year, I plan on spreading it out a few years to enjoy doing something with my sons, therefore spreading the costs out. ive read that the old LA motors and magnums have a lot of the same bolt-ons like the oil pan and such, but what about the trans? I would think that the ram trans wouldn't be enough to handle the 500+ hp I plan on getting out of this motor, not to mention they aren't really made for performance... am I wrong on this?

Welcome aboard. Before you start cutting to fit that ram tranny, i suggest searching this forum for trans retro fit projects. Quite a few guys have done it here and i dont think any of them did it with a modern ram trans, but i could be wrong on that score. What i do know is some fit with some skilled welding, some fit with major surgery, some (gear vendors) bolt right in.

Welcome aboard, I think with some quality time searching, reading and getting to know a few folks here, let's just say you'll be awfully glad you did.
