I heard about this story today and figured something had to be getting lost in translation.

http://thebull.cbslocal.com/2015/05/12/the-military-had-to-pay-nfl-teams-to-honor-troops/

We’re being told this morning, on just about every news outlet… The military “reportedly” had to pay FOURTEEN NFL teams to honor our troops during their football games.

Looks like it cost our military $5.4 million to honor our troops, most of the cash came from a campaign from The National Guard… Don’t ya think these teams would say “Hey… this is GREAT and a GREAT thing to do… just come on in y’all…” right??

You’ll notice… one Texas team took the cash… another DIDN’T!! Didn’t we see a LOT of service men and women honored at our HOUSTON TEXANS games?? Damn right…

The fourteen teams that took the money are…

Atlanta Falcons – $1.05 million

Baltimore Ravens – $884,500

Buffalo Bills – $679,000

Indianapolis Colts – $620,000

Minnesota Vikings – $605,000

Green Bay Packers – $600,000

New York Jets – $377,500

Kansas City Chiefs – $250,000

Cincinnati Bengals – $138,960

Dallas Cowboys – $62,500

St. Louis Rams – $60,000

Pittsburgh Steelers – $36,000

Cleveland Browns – $22,500

Miami Dolphins – $20,000

I couldn't figure out how teams could be getting paid to "honor" teams with ceremonies when one team was taking over a million bucks and others were taking twenty or thirty grand? What the heck ceremony can you put on with $20,000 these days?

Turns out I was right to question this "report". What this deal actually was is a recruiting campaign for the National Guard that's disguised as a honoring our troops event. The NFL and the teams are still paying for their own honors, events, ceremonies, awards, etc., to pay respect to our troops but this money was for advertising and promotional events for the Guard, which really were for recruiting purposes more than ceremonial ones.

I like the idea of spending some bucks to get these folks some attention, but the initial reporting on this wasn't very honest.

Yep the military using it as a recruiting tool, for an all volunteer military...

I don't agree with all the charges or auspice of why they do it, seems a little fake
but,
it's the militaries demographics 18-34 y/o's, men & women
they need to get the message out...

It's a national stage, it's a deceptive way to do it maybe,
but most if not all sales pitches are somewhat deceptive...

That's what it is a sales pitch for military service...

I don't agree with all of it, but it must work, it's in many sports & racing...
