Nipple Reconstruction?

I am reconditioning a used 1972 Road Runner grille I picked up. I wonder if the four "nipples" which all are broken off on the bottom of my plastic center grille piece serve any useful purpose? In the photo of the NOS grille I uploaded below, one can see two of them which which resemble small pegs. Do I try to rebuild them with plastic/epoxy (silicone?) or can I do without them? Thank you.

Im sure they serve some sort of purpose...Ma wouldn't have put them there if it didnt need it.

IMHO, you're on the right track with melting plastic and some sort of resin/glue together to re-make the nipple.

There were push on clips on those studs originally that secured the front edge of the grille to the bumper. As mentioned they didn’t last long.

1. how about JB weld for plastic? I've used it before on plastics and may work.

72RoadrunnerGTX knows his stuff. I figured they had something to do with attachment to the bumper, but had no idea there were additional clips. I'll have to put on my thinking cap to figure out an alternative.

My first thought was it was in the wrong forum! Sorry, can't help you on how to fix your nipples except for maybe just shave them off and don't worry about them

Found a thread on another forum suggesting (showing) how to use epoxy to affix #6 screws in place of the pins.
