So im having issues with the wiper motor that came on a car i bought that needed reassembly. Finally getting to the wipers…. They work fine, both speeds and off. I’ve tried without the arms on. But for some reason this motor has auto park and it never does in the same spot. After a quick picture search of 68 wiper motors, im finding out mine looks nothing like them. (See pics)
Is a 68 supposed to have auto park? IMG_7541.jpeg

Yes, both the two- and three-speed motors auto-park. What you have pictured looks like a three-speed, to me.

The "park switch" may be dirty, or one or more contacts at the dash switch.

To service the "park switch" remove the cover from the gear sections, and inspect the cam and contacts in there. Dirty contacts affect the parking mechanism and where it stops. Cleaning and lubricating this area may clean up the precision at where it parks.

Mark the position of the cover prior to removal.

I think the service manual has a troubleshooting section for this.

For “To service the "park switch"”, does this require removing the motor?

I thought it was ok when I repeatedly turn the switch on and off, and it seemed to auto park in same spot… threw the arms on, turned on the switch- bam! Arms go “further down” onto the cowl grille and back up then i turned off and they stopped in middle of windshield! Cant trust it, gonna wreck my paint!

Im gonna have to revisit this motor again in the morning…. Im thinking it COULD BE a 3 speed, not sure
