No or weak spark help?

New icm, vr, dual ballast, dizzy cap n button, wires & plugs, relay & starter. My mechanic said its possible its the dizzy, probly the condesor. A newer one is less than $50. But he said to check power from the dizzy to coil 1st. If no power then its the dizzy right?

New Dizzy Cap & Button, ICM, Ballast, relay, Stater, V. Regulator Could the Dizzy itself be causing the No Start issue? If there's power to the power wire from the dizzy, does that mean there's no power at the coil?

Here is a basic wiring drawing that should be like yours now. wiring.jpg

You could put a wire from the positive side of the coil to the power side of battery and then you should have spark. A new set of points, old style or electronic is not expensive.

K thanks. I used a light probe on all the ign parts the only one that didnt light up was the dizzy. The connector goin to the harness made a buzz sound and when connected, no light when probed on the dizzy side.

robw13; My best advice for you is to get a factory service manual (book or online) and follow the trouble shooting guide for 'no spark'. Throwing parts at a problem very seldom is the solution and gets expensive. There are also several trouble shooting guides specifically for Mopars. Hopefully someone can post a link for you. If you methodically follow the guide, you will find your problem. Good luck.

Could the Dizzy itself be causing the No Start issue?

YES! That's why you need to pop the distributor cap and crank the engine to see if the rotor is even turning. Also, did you try running a wire from the positive battery post to the positive post on the coil?

Not yet, can it be any wire or an insulated one? When I connect the wire, does the cap need to be on?

Rob
The wire needs to be insulated, there are too many places that the wire could ground out between the battery and + terminal of the coil. Also, the cap needs to be on so as to see if engine fires

Just a quick FYI for your mechanic...there is no condenser in an electronic ignition system - all the spark control is handled inside the ICM, and the magnetic pickup inside the distributor provides the trigger for the spark.
