Ok one more heater core question and I should be done with this topic . I need an o ring for the heater core control valve pipe ( 65 Coronet ) , I've been to parts stores , even a hardware store with no luck .

You might try McMastercarr.com you'll need the OD, ID and cross section though. I purchase lots of items from them and unless it's a special OEM size they'll likely have it.

Good luck!

I just replaced one in my 62 Belvedere. I found them at Lowes in the plumbing section. Took the valve and test fit a few. There were 2 that fit, one was a little thicker then than the other. Bought em both and the thinner one worked. I'll check the size when I get home from work.

The ... ahem...harbor freight...ahem... o-ring assortment has a size that worked on my '64 heater valve.

You wanna see a Doctor about that cough you have.

Someone posted to stay away from the HF o - rings and considering the mess that could happen I'll hold out for something better . I do appreciate the input though .

Good idea they use the same O rings from harbor freight to make chinese condoms and look how many people they have in China!

There's no oem part. For the cost, get close and try a couple different sizes. Use a light coat of Vaseline when reassembling. You'll be good to go.

Alright, here is the size I used: 3/4" i.d.x 7/8 o.d. x 1/16" wall. Found them at Lowes, Brasscraft brand. Made in Taiwan, so a step up from Chinese lol.
