Hi B-Body friends,

I was asked by some friends to post a running thread updating as the offseason goes on my Charger so I figured I’d share it here if that’s alright. It’s a drag car, 68 Charger that’s undergoing a serious transformation this offseason that includes body work and paint, roll cage and weight loss, along with a potential 440. Currently has a 383 / 727.

Will be updating this thread as projects are completed and progress continues. Thanks for following along! Social media updates by searching: Kohrt Racing

Body work and paint is the first project. Body work is extensive as it has hail damage from sitting outside for 30 years. The original red has been primer’ed over.

Plan is to use Summit Racings epoxy primer after getting it to bare metal in most places. Then fill before sealing and going with a single stage with a clear over it. My plan is to paint with a $1000 budget. Currently I’m at $600 with everything except for paint. For guns, I plan to use TCP global’s kit including a 1.4mm and 1.7mm. It also comes with a handy 1.0mm for the jambs which I do plan to paint.

I will also paint the inside of the doors, hood, trunk and possibly the engine bay as well, but not the interior. Which is getting a total rework in its own way.

Metal work begins shortly with not only several patches but a 10-pt roll cage!

How serious are you about racing? Full season points type thing? Don't be afraid to talk to people about sponsoring a paint job maybe.
Or a rollbar...
