For Sale: Not Mine Oh No, They Are Coming Out Of The Woodwork. 1970 “Black Ghost” Challenger Tribute

That is kind of different though Don, that car has “real” history with it being a tv show car and the production crew wrecking hundreds of them… unlike the Challenger
Yes but you could also make the argument that the black ghost was more of a real car.
All the hype about Street racing is pretty much meaningless.

It was a factory hemi car with a bunch of options.
Not just a thing put together to jump stuff and get trashed.

Yes fake story. Its been discussed here a couple times. The original owners son is a videographer or something like that and hyped up the car with a bs story that it was a “legendary street racer”just to sell it. This was a couple of years ago but I’m kind of surprised you don’t remember it
i do remember it but I did not know it was fake. I must of fallen off the post.

The 1970 "Black Ghost" Challenger story is largely true in that a famous, unique car existed and was owned by a Detroit police officer, but its legendary undefeated street racing prowess is debated, with some experts calling the extensive history exaggerated for marketing, making it a mix of fact and myth, though it's a documented historic vehicle and was sold for over $1

Facts About the Black Ghost:

  • Vehicle: A rare 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE, black paint, black Gator Grain vinyl top, black interior, 4-speed manual transmission, 426 Hemi engine.
  • Owner: Godfrey Qualls, a decorated Vietnam veteran and Detroit police officer, bought it new and raced it on Woodward Avenue.
  • Legendary Status: Known for appearing, dominating races, and vanishing, earning its "ghost" nickname.
  • Historic Recognition: Added to the National Historic Vehicle Register.
  • Auction: Sold for over $1 million by the Qualls family in 2023, becoming a Dodge "Last Call" special edition.

True…. the part of the owner being a cop owning it.

False in my opinion.… “legendary street racer”
