I have a small collection of the stickers that used to get put on your door jamb with oil and lube change information. I recently picked up a couple of items that I think are unusual. I was surprised to learn that back in the day some service stations would mail out oil change reminders. On the left is one such post card. In the era before computers it seems like it would take a bit of work to file away customers data and then send out these cards at the appropriate time. The other item is a reminder that is made of metal, and is designed with two areas for writing the mileage of your oil and filter change and a slot in it for the purpose of sliding the dipstick through so it will be on the dipstick as your reminder.

I remember the door jamb stickers, but, the others, I don't. Thanks for sharing!!

I filled out my share of door jamb stickers but the dipstick tag is a new one. I never even seen one on a dipstick left by someone else.

Real Cool

I like those, dadsbee. Here are some more, with a couple more unusual ones. The small Quaker State and Texaco are made of thin plastic and were to be hooked on something in the engine bay. The larger Shell is perforated to be divided into 4 pieces. Exactly where each was to be stuck, I don't know. The Sunoco is perforated down the middle, and on the back of the right piece is the instruction "Put this part of sticker on radiator left or right of cap". Even though I am a Mopar guy, the Union 76 sticker is cool because everyone in the metro Detroit area knew of Merollis Chevy, as they were the largest Chevy dealership in Michigan and advertised on every type of media.

Somewhere I got a book of Quaker State door jamb stickers from the 60's
I'll have to try and find them.

Wow! Merollis Chevrolet. Haven't heard that name in years. They had a dealer in St. Louis and didn't have a very good reputation. They also bought a dealership in KC and there was supposedly some hinky financial and then legal dealings behind it.
