Oil dip stick tube in 383

Make big mistake and got in a hurry when install new rebuilt 383 and tranny and forgot to install oil dip stick tube, having trouble getting it to fit in block, already bent up first tube, only 10.00 dollars, need HELP with a better piece for dip stick or how to install in block chrome one, I could not find any aftermarket one's like LOKAR etc to fit Big Block MOPAR, any suggestions before I start bending more 10.00 dollar chrome tubes up

Slide a socket over the next one and drive it home, also a dab of rtv will help seal it as it goes in.

Quit beating on the top of the tube. Find an open end wrench to slide around tube and put just above the crimp in tube where it goes into block and drive into place.

Yeah that happened to me during my engine swap...fun stuff. I got it in.

The chrome ones don't fit really well because of the plating. Take the end that goes into the block and sand it down until it fits. RTV should also be used to seal it up especially if you sand a bit too much and it's loose. I recently made one out of 3/8" steel line and it came out great.

I'm having a similar issue on my 383. I bought was was supposed to be an original dip stick and tube for it but it will not go in even after griding the end down. It's stainless and seems to be wrong for the car. The mounting bracket on it doesn't line up with the motor mount, the way the bend is supposed to be the bracket is floating near the spark plug. How hard should these be to put in (engine in car)? Should it be very dofficult or just a little tuff? Any advice is appreciated!

Take a crowsfoot wrench and some extensions and drive it in with a hammer. Put the crowsfoot down near the flange and drive it in.

I'm worried the old one might have broken off flush inside the block, but it definitely doesn't have a tube coming out of it

I tried that and it did nothing, not sure the one I have is the right one

Get some 3/8 stainless steel tubing and grind some off the end, about an inch up and bend it how you need to clear stuff. Tap what’s still in the block into the the pan, drain the oil and use a magnet or claw to pull it out. Put some RTV on the end of the stainless tubing and push it in. Now your done, pat yourself on the back and enjoy an adult beverage.

same problem..old tube broke off flush with block...no way to pull it out, so I drove it in a little and trimmed down the new one...glad it uses the motor mount bolt to support it!

If it isn't broken off in the block callmega parts and get the one for your engine Not your car unless you have a # matching car . I chased the same problem , got the right one went right in lined up perfectly. Just saying

Sure looks like there is one broke off in there. Should be a nice clean round hole.

Might be able to grab it with a spiral easy out. Be careful though...
