I’ve seen it in different spots. Where is it installed at the factory in a 1970 383 2bb, auto, air, power steering? Was there more than one place?

I have never seen a different block entry, but depending on the exhaust configuration, the tube could be to the inside or outside of the exhaust manifold. RV's, vans, and I guess trucks could have a pan side entry like a ford and the tube would be different, but the block is always drilled in the same place. If the pan had an opening, the hole in the block would have a plug in it.

'70 is between the head and the exhaust... '69 is outside the exhaust.. on HP manifolds. Not sure on the 2 barrel with logs.

I tend to agree with you dadsbee, but take a look at the factory photo of the 383-4 at the bottom. On the 383-2 in the middle you can't really tell where the stick is?

Since OP appears to have a Charger...........

But still shows the same location as the previous photo for a Challenger.

and ^^^^ those engine photos are '69's as the breather is on the drivers side cover .

All I'm saying is these photos are from "factory 1970 literature" posted on HH website by B Washington. If its wrong, you'll have to take it up with him.

And as I first said, "I tend to agree with you" but that don't make it necessarily so.

Maybe I could go back in time, to see the answer to all these questions. But the truth of the matter is... at the time, I never thought about, or better, gave a rat's *** about alot of this stuff. I pulled out the freakin dipstick, checked the oil, and stabbed it back in. Next job.
