Oiling rear main seal

Hey guys I’m installing my viton rear main seal from 440 source. Do I need to put a little oil or grease on the lip of the seal? I know rubber requires it but didn’t know about the viton. I’ve looked all over and can’t find it recommended. I’m installing following Hughes install instructions. Thanks

I would. I never install a lip seal dry.

Thanks man, I don’t either but I’ve never used these seals before. Just wanted to double check.
