Just to add to the info I but weld all my seams wich allows me to finish my seams much smoother.No laps or flanges for me.

Yeh, I read a Mag article that explained how to do it that way, and thought "that sounds logical and amost stupid simple"- how come all these jokers are telling me that won't work, and that I need to get me one o them there vice grip panel crimpers to do it right.

I practiced butt welding and grinding on my 5th Ave the other day, and was surperized at my first attempt. Can only get better. I'm modding the FA battery tray to fit my 73 and will practice again on that.

I think I can get away with using the centers of those cappy patch panels and butt weld them in.
They were "free" with the car and a **** load of other parts.

Yeah I guess my but welding doesn't work.I guess the skim coat of filler to finish the stretched qrt is a less quality repair.You might want to flange it and build a few layers of filler to fill up the seam.The added failure point of the back side flange is plus also.

Those are amazing! Those were obviously fabbed by someone that has never seen a vintage rusty floorpan! Prop I think we need to invite those guys up to the rustbelt and show them how well there part would work!

No doubt Matt! Even that last Godzilla piece of tin, rivets and bondo I ripped out looked better than that.

Yeah, seems pretty obvious to me that a lapped panel will collect junk and rot, and be impossible to even paint over on the inside behind the C pillar.
