Bought this from a guy over a year ago. No drivetrain and it was missing the entire front clip and the passenger door. Spent the last year scouring Ebay and Craigslist to find the missing body parts.

The most expensive thing I have spent money on... the storage space. I've spent around 1500 dollars storing this project because we were looking for a house. ( what I actually mean: hiding it from my wife until she got the house she wanted so she doesn't kill me!)

Next month we should be moved in and I can finally start. (SURPRISE Honey!)

The car was originally a 71 Sebring Plus with a 383 and a slapstick auto, F7 Green with a half white vinyl top and air conditioning.

I bought a complete 400 that needs a rebuild, and another 400 block (40 bucks, couldn't pass it up) and plan to ditch the console and put in a 4 speed.

Haven't decided on a color yet.

I was looking to do a full drag car, but might scale it back a bit so i can drive it on the street on occasion.

I'm gonna do a mild build up on one 400, and a Stroker for the other so I can swap when i go through mood changes. I'm also excited about the new Passon 5 speed coming out.

I have already purchased Caltracs and a set of split Mono leaf springs. I can't decide if I want to rebuild the 8 3/4 rear thats in it, or replace it with the Strange S60...Plan on running 4.10s.

Car will be mini tubbed and will use the inboard spring re-locator kit. Is anybody running a similar setup??

projects

i am installing a tremac 5 speed and moser 60 with 3;90 ratio due to the overdrive. all going into a 69 coronet 440, hemi power. good luck with your projects, #1 the car, #2 the wife.:icon_axe:

.....IF...my wife....knew what I had in storage......GULP! :icon_axe: :icon_hang:

In regards to the marriage, My wife had given me permission to buy a project car, BUT she told me I had to wait until AFTER we bought a house. She is happy with the the house we chose (...and i am happy with the three stall garage)

When I found this car i was looking for a more complete car. Looked at a 67 Chevelle and a 67 LeMans ( i was born in 67, thought it would be cool), but they were typical Mn cars and needed major sheet metal replacement due to rust. This Satellite was missing everything, but after seeing the other cars, I was blown away by the rust free floor pans.My brother in law is restoring a 69 Firebird and has a catalog with everything he needs, so I figured I'd just buy the new front end from Year One.

Imagine my surprise when I found out that there wasn't much available for this car.

The story behind this car was that the guy before the guy i bought it from, took everything missing from this car to restore a GTX. I was left with two crappy fenders. The yellow one in the picture has a 440-6 decal and a large rust hole behind the wheel. the bottom of the yellow passenger door was rotted also.

Have to shout out to Bill Collins in AZ for hooking me up with some Arizona fenders and door. Made my job a lot easier!

The only real body work will be when I get the car Mini tubbed. I feel guilty cutting such a rust free car, and it will be a pain removing the under-coating in the rear wheel wells.

WOW, I'm shocked, no sadened, that peole have to ask for permission to live their life. I could never live that way.

I kow someone (ore more) in that situation, and it really makes me cringe when every third sentance is "my wife already said I could.....".

My wife, on the other hand, also finds it distasteful. Just proves they ARE out there.

We do, however, discuss things that would have an impact on the other party, but for the most part, if she wants to do something (and can afford it), she does it. Same with me.

I do hear ya about storage. I had one of mine down the street for almost a year. At about the $800 mark, I figured I couldn't afford NOT to build a garage, so I financed one with a HELOC and used what I was paying in storage to pay off the loan. 26x30- VERY comfortable 2 car and/or tight 3 car. I bought it without doors (to avoid financing another 3K) and it gets padid off NEXT MONTH. I'm installing the 10' doors this week :)
