ok we talked about this before but I am always looking for new input.
is there a significant difference between the two boxes on a 318 with duel exhaust and a 340 spec cam to be exact? Up to 5000 rpm.

ok I like my distributor its a few years old and the car runs really good, but for a cheap up grade I was thinking of swapping to the chrome box, so if only change the to the fbo box would that make any difference? thanks

ok I checked out the web site you need there coil to match the ignition module. thanks! looks like a great product.

I don't think you would notice a difference, but it's a good idea to have a spare ignition module in the car (a stock replacement would do fine).
The orange boxes have had some quality issues.
A few years back I had one that would break up around 3800 - 4000 rpm. Took me all summer to diagnose. Last fall I had one just die right in the garage.
The "mopar" equivalent is easy to find, Summit, Mancini or Rick Ehrenberg sells some on E-bay that have higher RPM ratings.

Rick Ehrenberg sells some on E-bay , get one on these

The chrome box is better even if it's not on a higher-performace engine setup. The orange can work fine, but for a few extra bucks...I switched to the chrome ecu and immediately noticed how much better the cold starts were. No timing retard like with the orange unit either. There are, of course, other options but as far as comparing the two...chrome wins. (Made in USA too..at least the one I bought from Summit last year is)

His ecu has an adjustable rev limiter, which is nice...it needs the ballast resistor bypassed (I believe he gives you a jumper and instructions for that, it's easy) and it should be used with the pertronix flamethrower coil other than that I believe it's a drop in replacement

between both asked, the chromed by far... faster and crispy response. Faster start up too

both WHILE they keep working, of course

Yes it's a petronix coil but the good thing is it lets you do away with the ballast and the box has a rev limiter

I understand a good modern upgrade to our old school engines and carbs thanks

Where is the best place to get the chrome ones? I see several of the orange and blue ones.

It looks like in the near future I ill be installing an R/T Garage rev limiter. I am convinced it will be a significant improvement and more reliable. Thanks for the suggestions

I'm Using the Rev-N-Nator module right now ( after several MP boxes failures ) and definitelly worth what I did pay ( maybe 6 years ago, promotional price of around $100-120 as far I recall on the first release ). Not crispy like the Chromed MP box, but definitelly smooth and fast responsive without miss a beat.

But my car is dissasembled since 5 years ago, LOL, so I can't say anymore.

Also got the Hi-Rev 7500. Didn't made me say WOW, but is OK. Is my spare. A friend of mine got it failed in a couple of months thought

Chrome box used to be available from Summit but not its not? Is it discontinued? If so, that's another dumb move by Mopar.....stop making the parts that most everyone uses.

Yeah really. I just looked it up in my order history there and it comes up as 'not available'.....:wtf:
