I'm cleaning up the original motor mounts on my 70 Charger 383 HP. They look ok to me, but should I be disassembling and replacing the isolator? Is that a thing or will my 55+ year old mounts be fine?

The rubber part of my mounts seemed fine, but I replaced them. How often does the motor get removed, and when was the last time it was out.
Those answers for me are: probably never, and 1977

This is the first time they've been out and will likely never be out again unless there's a major engine issue. I just had the engine rebuilt staying close to stock, so not pumping massive HP.

Is there any cracks or any separation visible from the steel from rust? If they look good and you're not going to beat on it try them. Since the rubber parts fit either side maybe put the passenger side on the driver side as it was just a cushion for torque all those years compared to the drivers side. This way you know the one that was being pulled on for decades is no longer doing that job. Just my thoughts..

OR —- they are inexpensive —- this is the perfect time to just go NEW —- once for life —- and be done with them…..

Run what you have and install a restraint on the drivers side mount.

Sorry for the ignorant question, but can just the rubber isolator part be replaced or is it an all or nothing?
