His death Saturday at age 84 was announced on his website by his wife, Masaki Rush. He was largely inactive the last 15 years, after suffering a stroke in 2003. But his legacy remains assured as one of the architects of the West Side sound that was a cornerstone of Chicago blues in the ’50s and ’60s. RIP Otis!

never heard of him
only sounds on the west side these days are semi automatic gun fire and excessively loud rap

I’m into the blues but not as the main constant sound. I like listening to the satellite radios blues channel. BB Kings house of blues. I hear a lot of things I never heard before but I don’t keep track of music like I did when I was a kid. I know a few giants and a few house bands. It’s all good.
