Overheating

I am running a 67 coronet with a 472CI engine that overheats. I have been told that I have to big a cam. Can this cause overheating ?

Install a small cam.

A big cam may cause your engine to produce more heat that your cooling system can't cope with, sure.

Seriously though, with so little info you have provided, how could anybody possibly answer your question?!

What radiator? What t/stat? What fan? When is it overheating - idling, cruising, always?

26 inch Copper radiator. 3 or 4 core. 180 Napa Superstat. Green coolant. Shroud. Clutch fan. Digital temp gun for accurate readings. NO high flow anything. Cam schmam.

There are many overheating threads, and solutions in this forum. The answers are all there. But first make sure your house is in order. Are you running a fan shroud? All bets are off till you have a properly fitted fan shroud. Do you have a water pump, or housing that is non-mopar? I.E re-build?(Autozone) Chinese? They made a 67 Coronet wagon with a big-block, with a trailer package. And they tested these in the desert at the Mopar proving grounds, towing trailers. So it is possible to have a factory cooling system to handle your motor without getting all funky and spending big-bux on a custom cooling system.
