Hey all, I'm finally getting to restore my 66 Charger Ive had it for 15 years! Now ready for a paint job and I'm still trying to get opinions on colors and two tone.

I'm sold on a really dark blue color where it looks black in some different lighting.

Anyways I've seen a show car (66charger) with a two tone paint, silver and a dark blue it looked nice.

I was thinking a subtle two tone paint job like light blue more of a grey base and a dark blue on top black base.

Any suggestions? Am I crazy? I know its a big car and many people say it needs the two tone paint job.
Ive uploaded one of the colors I like. Give me some suggestions please!

Dark colors are good, light colors are good. And period correct, no lime green or orange on the 66 or 67's please. 2 tone always reminds me of foose.

I just acquired a 2 owner 66 Charger out of SC. It has the 383 4bbl with auto on the floor. Factory AC, PS, PB. Paint code CC1 ( light blue ) for the outside and EE1 ( dark blue metallic ).
Ironically, the 66 Coronet HT I also have has the Exact Same paint combination!
Who would have thought.
Anyway my opinion on the outside color would be for the EE1. It is period correct and looks real nice in both shade and sun.

While I am talking about the Charger, anyone have a spare rear emblem they wouldn't mind parting with??
This one has seen better days. LONG ago!
Pictures will be coming soon!!

All are PPG Color codes and were factory Mopar colors... Just some ideas but I would keep it all one color. If you want contrast, I think it would look nice with the factory style pin stripes and car won't look over done. The 66-67 Chargers are one of my favorite dash designs and the blue interior looks totally awesome with the electro luminescent dash lights at night.

So no to the two tone? The feature from hot rod always gets me though... Here the link for the one I'm thinking of.

Oh ya the interior is the coolest part of the car! Its all unique in my opinion! I'm not sure if I've seen the original pin-striping on these pictures?

I think the two tone cuts the cars body up too much. Either people love it or hate. If you plan on keeping it do whatever you like but custom paint jobs usually lowers the resale value. The one in your link looks ok. Is your car a vinyl top and if so what color?

Good point, but that is a restomod and it fits the overall look, with many other mods. Exactly what i meant by foose.
My 67 Charger 4- speed was turbine bronze with black interior and black steelies - pure Mopar goodness. My Coronet is cream with a black painted roof, so I get the 2-tone contrast look just not on the 66-67 Chargers. my 2c

That's what I'm struggling with what I want for this car foose style or not. Its already not original so the resale value right there is down. I don't plan on selling it, it was my first mopar I bought! With the whole foose design I do want to update like the breaks to disc, and it would be nice to update the front end for a smoother ride and steering, but I probably wont. The interior is original, redone to pearl white. So i think I like a dark blue option still. I already have a black muscle car so don't want two of the same color.

Your Charger sounds pretty nice, did you upload pics to the gallery I think I saw one with the Turbine bronze and steelies. Looks Great!

That one is long gone from my garage but here is a picture I dug up from 2004, on the way to Moparfest in Canada.

Silver with a blue stripe would be my choice with the blue interior. No 2 tone and no vinyl top.
