Looks good! I may have to steal this idea for my set of American Racing Outlaw I wheels.
Again, looks cool but very labor intensive. I'm wondering if you could find caps to snuggly cover the beads while painting.
An alternative to individually taping rivet heads is to carefully coat them in thin film of vaseline.View attachment 380409 View attachment 380410 View attachment 380412 View attachment 380414 View attachment 380416 View attachment 380417 View attachment 380409 View attachment 380410 Well I bought a set of Center line wheels for $100. Then Hoosiers as well. And the only reason I bought them, was to paint them and mount them on my 66 Plymouth. I painted 2 wheels, one rear and one front. In total, it was 5-6 man hours for both wheels. Cleaned them up then polish the beads. The tape the beads, then paint wheels. Let me know what you guys think.

i've used vaseline for masking hi points on wheels & other items & it's def faster than taping, just have to take care to keep the grease only where needed.
Yeah, dem things are ribits...ribit ribit ribitI have a set of those too but may sell them of the slots in the attic fit.
I'm not invalidating your effort, trust me, they look great but how much is your time worth per hour?
I think I would rather shove a sharp stick in my eye than mask those rivets. Wasn't there a production rim available that suited your needs / wants?
Sometimes, the personal statememt supersedes the time it takes. If He had simply paid money for shelf items, They would not have as much of Him in them....just His money. Myself i would have sanded & polished them(because polishing is one of the things i do a lot of).....guaranteed to have triple the time He has in them,,,,leastways i'd have gone gloss black as opposed to matte,,,, & maybe increased the work exponentially with color sanding & polishing the black(consider all that finger ******* around the rivet heads) i'm just saying that at times....especially with keepers....the 'production' sense of time & worth, give way to meeting a desired result, & the satisfaction of One's own hand being instrumental in said results.I'm not invalidating your effort, trust me, they look great but how much is your time worth per hour?

An idea..cut a template from some thin plastic that will skirt around the rivet head, & lay it around each head as You apply the grease film.....then You could use a thin paint brush to skirt each head.Sounds a bit risky lol I'd probably screw it up.
Polishing I can see, I enjoy that as well. I also enjoy rattle canning and powder coating but damn. Lots o rivets.Sometimes, the personal statememt supersedes the time it takes. When i do my metal thing, time stops.....it will only happen as fast as it can happen....but the results will outdo average by a damn good margin![]()

Did you consider Plasti-Dip Delfino? Same satin look, pretty tough but you can peel it off clean in sheets at a later date if you want to change the look.
The Centerlines were on a drag car I ran in the 80's. Hurt the motor last race of the season in Louisiana and then almost lost everything when a trailer tire let go on the way home. That was a scary ride lol. Also have a set of Weld Prostars. Need a set of 2000 Durango/Dakota wheels? Got 3+ sets of those dang things...Extra set of these wheels? Haha
Polished a set of Fenton RT mags in the mid 70's and ran them on 4 different vehicles during the next 25 years! Had some time in them since it was all done by hand including having to sand them starting with 400. Finally let them go when I sold a really nice 70 Challenger. First set of tires that got mounted on them at a tire shop, the moron there told me that they were going to leak like hell and tried to sell me tubes. He gave me a pretty good lecture about it and was about to leave with only two tires mounted when he finally shut up. Never had a problem.Sometimes, the personal statememt supersedes the time it takes. If He had simply paid money for shelf items, They would not have as much of Him in them....just His money.
