All seals (unless Chinese) will have a part number on the seal lip. You have to get out the Magoo glasses, but it is there. Most seals are National, BCA, Timkin, and a few others I can't think of. I replace seals and bearings a lot by size and part number. Seems most bearing stores want to go by size, and not part number though.

you deserve getting your *** handed to you by a parts monkey in a candy *** parts store.
more then half the time i'm over their shoulder showing them where to navigate on the computer.

I've been looking them up online myself, on the store website, verifying it's in stock at the location in question, printing out the page, then presenting the page to the counter person, while pointing at the location text and the inventory count.

Sometimes they still can't find it, but it takes a whole bunch of the "thinkin' " off their shoulders.

I'm with you YY1, I do that at the local Auto Zone. I hand them the paper and say the computer says it's in stock all you gotta do is pull it. I did have to tangle with the manager over a set of belts I wanted, a set of lets say,B2014.They kept giving me B2104.So he ordered B2014 for me, called and said they were in. Went to pick them up and you know what he handed me.......B2104 !!!
Went to Car Quest,Not only did I get what I wanted BUT he asked "Do you want a matched set ?" Damn, I didn't even know that you could still get them matching like the old days. I was impressed ! Now that's a counter man.

I have had NAPA on line come up with the wrong part even tho the picture looked right. If in question I take the old part with me if possible.
