I wonder if anyone has had success repairing chips, dents, holes (small) in 71-74 B-body instrument cluster faux wood surfaces? What did you use? what color works, etc. Thanks, in advance, Greg
Not everyone's cup of tea-I went with a textured silver after having filled in the butchered radio spot with a metal plate behind and a two-part epoxy over the top of that. Highlighted the gauges with a yellow that almost matches the Bahama Yellow exterior.
If you have someone artistitic you can buy different shades of brown and fake it in pretty good. Depends on how big the spot is as the brush strokes aren't quite smooth.

As far as repairs go, I have gotten pretty good using the plastic gun welder on some cracks, if your plastic is thick enough. Nothing more than soldering gun with tips for melting in the little zig zag wire inserts. As for plugging holes, it has been discussed here many times. Put a few small chunks of black plastic of your choice, I used some from an old busted taiwan outside mirror, put in a glass cup and add some urothane paint thinner and it will melt down to a paste. Fill up your holes, add support to cracks on the back side, 'glue' pieces back on, and then sand and paint as needed. Worked good for me.
