PCV, filtered Breather, Oil fill hole, Baffles

Just put on Edelbrock sig valve covers on the 440/493 and unlike the mopar performance cast aluminum they only have one hole each, I am using one for a pcv and the other for a filtered breather.

Both holes are baffled which is great but do I need to do this? Can I take the pcv off and use the filtered breather there and take out the baffle on the other side and use a pop in oil fill cap?

Oil filling will take longer with a baffled hole but what does everyone else do?
 
I also have edelbrock valve covers with 1 hole each. I just add my oil where the pcv valve is. My funnel fits right in the grommet, and the baffle is different than where the breather goes. In allows faster oil filling. Yours may be the same.

The pcv valve allows for easy oil fill up, but the breather hole Takes oil very slowly and results in spillage

Had the same issue with mine. The close baffels in both holes made adding oil a PITA.
I welded a screw in bung in mine for the oil fill. My covers are aluminum and the bung was aluminum of course. I sure you can get them in steel too.
Or you could try tapping your baffel through the hole to bend it away from the hole a bit, that would help some.
 
make sure you have baffles, my fabricated aluminium covers didnt have them and because of my awesome oil pressure it was squirting oil into my pcv and breathers which in turn was putting oil into my carbie, took a couple of weeks to figure out why blowing so much smoke.
 
i will often drill some holes in my baffels for added oil flow while filling.the vertical sides that attach to the cover,not the flat part that deflects the oil.seems to help a bit while filling oil up.if you dont have baffles then cut a window in the side of the sealed grommet that comes with breathers,dont just cut off the end.
 
You could pull off the filtered breather...I assume it is slotted for a cap....then on the same cover punch out the other hole, assuming it has one to be punch out....or drill out a new one for your breather and move baffle.
 
Was checking out my 383 last night and saw that the oil fill / breather on the drivers side is baffled so I guess that is more stock than anything lol. It does have the 2"+ extension of tube so I guess adding oil was just a slow process from anyone's perspective. If you went fast it just filled the tube first.

When these covers start driving me batty I will make a new hole for a push in type oil cap.
