We don't have an "emmissions" forum category so I place my question here. I am using the old school Direct Connection chrome valve covers on the 340 build and the 1/2" PCV is loose in the rubber grommet hole. Looks like the hole is about 5/8". Anyone have a part number or source for a PCV that will fit good and snug? The hose from the Thermoquad is supposed to be 11/32" but I can worry about that later (adapt, etc.) Thank you.

Its hard to tell without measuring the hole size. If it measures 3/4 you can use one from a 78 ford truck.

The pictured Direct Connection valve covers use the stock PCV valve and crankcase breather grommets. The grommet pictured is incorrect for the valve cover. With the correct Chrysler or replacement grommet, your current PCV valve, which appears to be Chrysler number 3671076, or similar, will fit, as will other Chrysler or aftermarket replacement valves.

The original PCV valve grommet is Chrysler number 3751510 (replaces 2536926). The crankcase breather grommet is Chrysler number 2946079. Both are still available from Chrysler.

Several aftermarket brands make replacements for the original grommets.

Aftermarket numbers to replace the 3751510, PCV valve grommet:
  • GV1 (Standard Motor Products)
  • GV1 (GP Sorensen)
  • PCA1145 (Carquest/Advance)
  • 42064 (Dorman)
  • 2-9272 (Echlin/NAPA)
  • 630-1051, 630-1073 (NAPA/Dorman)
  • PCV272 (BWD)
  • PV272 (Niehoff)
  • PCG300 (Wells)
  • 2P1007 (Wells Vehicle Electronics, WVE)
  • 2P1007 (Airtex)
  • MOP-3751510 (Summit)
  • 293-03751510 (Jegs)
  • MOP3751510 (Mancini Racing Equipment)
Aftermarket numbers to replace the 2946079, crankcase breather grommet:
  • GV31 (Standard Motor Products)
  • PCA1055 (Carquest/Advance)
  • 42344 (Dorman)
  • 2-9131 (Echlin/NAPA)
  • 630-1410, 630-1411 (NAPA/Balkamp, Dorman)
  • PCV943 (BWD)
  • PCG301 (Wells)
  • 2P1026 (Wells Vehicle Electronics, WVE)

  • MOP-2946079 (Summit)
  • 2946079 (Crown)
  • 077-2946079 (Jegs/Crown)
These grommets are also available with a chrome filler cap, chrome bolts, and plug for late small block truck truck valve covers (3640339) in Direct Connection/Mopar Performance number P4120272, which was originally released for the chrome valve covers.

The Mopar PCV measures more like 1/2".
Mega Parts also has them, $5.00.

I measure 5/8" for the diameter inside the installed rubber grommet. I purchased the valve covers used/second hand so don't know the history of the grommet. From above responses, it seems I have the wrong grommet not the wrong PCV valve. I'll be looking into it further. Thank you.

Make sure there is a baffle of some sort on the rocker side of those covers. Otherwise the valve will enable the oil to get sucked out.
