I'm installing a new master cylinder that came with a new adjustable pedal rod. when I went to install it, the pedal to rod attaching bolt is very tight going into the rod, to the point that it won't go in unless I press it in with an arbor. The bolt shank has plenty of play in the old rod and drops right in, but I don't know if that's due to wear.

Should it slide in and be able to spin in the rod?

If so I'll have to return and get a replacement.

And/or a bit of reaming....if there is enough meat on the outside. Gotta be curious if this was for another car.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking... since it looks like a cast part, you'd think it was either right or wrong, but maybe they had a secondary operation to open up the hole.

I sent an email to Right Stuff, we'll see what they say, before I try to modify the part.

Saw almost the same topic over on the A-bodies forum as part of a power brakes thread; sounds like there are 2 rod bolt sizes for the later A's at least so that amy be the issue for your part:

" Called mancinis. They said mopar made 2 size bolts to attach rod to pedal arm. 80 % of what they see is the small bolt. He told me to drill it out for the bigger bolt. "

and then" Now that I made the bolt fit by drilling it out. The damn thing is to long. Measures 7 1/2 long, tip too tip. Making brake pedal up to my knees. It needs be 5 inches long. And there's no way to make it shorter. Waiste of 45 bucks. Going to junk yard to find a original rod."

and finally"Was able to find a rod at junkyard. Your correct on the measurement 6 1/2 inches long. Put it on and fits perfect. Called mancinis and they didn't know of the two different sizes. Getting my money back also."

Thanks, that's good info. I think mine is fine on length as it's an adjustable one. Interesting on the bolt size. I also see there are a few places selling new bolts.
