Something with a potent small block in it!

a classic/vintage in stock form, or stock type suspension, probably an AAR `cuda or a TA Challenger, other than that the car with the best handling attributes, best overall power to weight ratio, equal weight on front & rear & enough power to lose 50%, between the bottom of the course & the top of the mountain....

Or an onboard computer & EFI, maybe a Centrifugal supercharger or a Turbocharger also, to compensate for the drastic altitude changes, it's pretty much all paved now...

A Barracuda currently holds the record for the vintage class (as of 2012) at 12 minutes 3 seconds.

Don't you hate that bull$hit Range Rover commercial filmed at Pikes Peak? What a piece of British junk it is. I guess it's German now. Junk.

TaTa motors Limited... an Indian company, purchase it to start their luxury car line........

K car or srt4...can't beat turdbo's at the PPIHC! (until Chrysler makes an electric, I guess)

Old course, or new?

its all about the mods allowed.if stock trim, then a viper would be my choice.

I posted this in the random video thread but I'm pretty sure if you guys like the hill climb cars you'll enjoy this too.

Keep in mind Peter Klutt the driver of the Challenger isn't a professional driver. I'm sure he's logged in some good hours at the track but he's actually the owner of Legendary Motorcar Company (just outside Toronto Ontario) Dream Car Garage on speed was filmed there and this was a build for a customer

well if your going that route, then maybe the Lamborghini Diablo back when Chrysler owned Lamborghini... Now that Fiat is a Major Player in Chrysler, in the family tree is all the Ferrari stable too now...

Not sure how much of that car is still a 'cuda, though, notice the IRS? TT522 Hemi...yikes. Just shows if you make enough power, you can punch a hole in the air w/ practically anything.

Back to Pikes Peak...

I went to Colorado Springs about 10 years ago to attend. The unlimited cars are nuts...the power and aero is crazy.

The problem the last couple years has been people supposedly beating records...but it's never mentioned that the course has slowly been changing to tarmac, so of course they will go faster. I still prefer when most of it was dirt....

Not sure if any of you follow WRC, but Sebastian Loeb set the record this year in a Peugeot based hill climb car. There's a point in the vid where it shows his heartrate at 188 bpm...and there are people that say professional race car drivers aren't real athletes...pffft....they are f'ing fearless too...makes the NFL or UFC look like kiddie games.

Toward the end of June we start to see the big race teams come into Colorado Springs. The race is great but bring your sun block, a spring coat and a winter coat. It changes fast here. We have 4 empty bedrooms and would happy to put up any racers/ race fans.

I remember an article from back in the day (think it was Popular Science) about this very Oldsmobile. They wanted to show how good front wheel drive was, people were unfamiliar with it back then. They increased the amount of body lean in the car, wanting the outside wheels to dig in better. A lot of the run was on gravel back then.

There was a French engineering article back then that explained why front wheel drive had limits and would only work with 40 hp. or less and with cars that weighed under a ton. So Olds designed this 4500 pound 400 hp. car to show how to do it.

I used to live in Colo Sprgs. Saw the climb every year. Thought these drivers were nuts! I was paranoid just driving normally up the hill......
