Plugging the intake manifold orifices

1973 340 stock intake manifold orifices. I have cleaned this intake and the orifices so they will work as Ma Mopar intended. Having done that, I am really wanting to just pull the orifices and plug them off. Any GREAT reason why I should not do this?

They are only needed for the EGR valve to function. If you are not using an EGR system then plug them and get a plate for the valve.
