Plymouth Valliant 64 carburator problem

Hello to everyone reading this.
I hope you can help me. I own this relic but it has a problem with gasoline leaking from the carburetor. It expels gasoline when it is running, I have the car stopped as it could create a fire with the gasoline falling into the exhaust. It's difficult to find videos that help me so I turned to B Bodies to see if anyone could help me because "a car that's stopped is a car that's breaking down and it needs for speed". Does anyone have ideas, websites or videos that could help me identify why the carburetor is expelling gasoline?

That is your fuel bowl vent, similar to the center carburetor on a six pack setup. If fuel comes out there, you either have a “sunk float” with a hole in it OR a needle & seat that is stuck open.
The float and needle&seat work exactly like a toilet. Water (or gas) fills up, float goes up & shuts off the valve (needle & seat)….EXACTLY like a toilet. So, replace those 2 items and it will be fixed. You might consider just rebuilding the whole carburetor (?)

Try your local auto parts store. They will need the number from the tag/screw holding the top on. It's a very simple carburetor and you can disassemble and clean (spray carb cleaner) it yourself. Blow out all the passages with compressed air and follow the carb kit instructions carefully.

Not in europe (Portugal). Not even my mechanic knew how to deal with the situation. It was through the internet that I was able to obtain information

Try the A body site for help. Do you have any friends or relatives in Canada? They could send you the kit.

What you really need to do is determine what “number” carburetor you have. The carburetor number is one of the numbers on the outside of your carburetor. That allows you to buy the correct carburetor rebuild kit (what you want). eBay is a good place to look.

Hi, tk u for trying to help me.
I have already find some info about it.
Is a Carter 6-1697 Carb or BBS carb (is recorded on the carbin on the side, i can show u) and for what i read and find the kit is the Walker 15483A, and in eBay have it, but, is it correct? In the main page of BBodies only, go to the "welcome Wagon" forum and there is more info about this, now is need to see if the kit Walker 15483A is really for the carter 6-1697 or not

Carb appears to be a CARTER model 1-1/4" BBD (Ball and Ball Down Draft). .. 1-9/16" throttle bore. "What size engine? 225 /6 or 170 /6. Possibilities are:
1. Leaking float valve
2. Floats filled with gasoline
3. Leaking lead sealing plugs at bottom of the float bowl
4. Leaking transfer passsge between float bowl bottom and throttle body
Very simple carb to rebuild and get a kit for. Look for a tag # or stamping on throttle body

Either of those guys can help you, or you can try classicindustries.com. They show a 1 barrel (bbl) carburetor rebuild kit for 1960-1971 Carter carburetors on 6 cylinder engines. This kit will have many extra pieces you won’t need because the kit has the parts for a wide range of similar carburetors. Most kits are like that, so save your old gaskets so you can make sure you replace it with the correct new gasket
