Hi all,

I'm rebuilding a 318 poly and noticed that none of the four thrust plate bolts have a hole for oil. There is a small galley going from the lifter valley to the right front bolt (viewed from the front) but the bolt is solid. Is that the way these are supposed to be? From the pics I've seen online, the LA engines used the same plate, but had a hole in one bolt. I can't figure out how the timing set would get lubricated otherwise.

Huh?! Oil pan splash!

On my LA, only 3 bolts are used. there is a metal plate designed to drop oil from the galley onto the chain.

I did not state pan splash. That metal thingy is to help keep oil off the timing cover seal it may throw some oil on the timing chain. The crank throws enough oil from the front bearing to lub the timing chain.
