Thank you! She's a beauty. Any mods to the rear spring location or tubs? I see Cal Tracs
Just curious. My 64 Polara has 15x7's (I think) and 245/60's. There seems like there's lots of extra room like a 8" wheel and a much bigger tire would fit. I can see a tire that big would need more room at the front.Thank you!
To accommodate the tires I moved the rear end back an inch (changed front spring hangers) but other than that it’s all stock
I’m not sure how big the wheelhouses are on the 64s? My tires are a little tight to the rear now and as much as I’d like to drop the rear a little bit I don’t have the room. I may end up redoing everything and having custom front hangers made to pull the tire forward a hair.Just curious. My 64 Polara has 15x7's (I think) and 245/60's. It seems to me that moving the rear back a bit is kinda common on early b's. Mine is back an inch, too,Just curious. My 64 Polara has 15x7's (I think) and 245/60's. You could try the Hoosier quick time. Treaded tire, not the quick time pro. It is a bias tire however, and I don't know much about compound, or sidewall stiffness.I absolutely love the way these tires fit but they are expensive and don’t last long I’m trying to find an alternative to them that has more tread.
Some of the A body guys have to do that too. A 70 series may be too bug around to fit in the stock lication. Moving the rear back gives it a cool race car look.It seems to me that moving the rear back a bit is kinda common on early b's. Mine is back an inch, too,
It centers the wheel in the opening better, and allows a much bigger tire.
I have the equivalent of a 295 55 15 on my 62.
TMM, stock 64 rears are the widest of the 62-65s, you will really have to pay attention to the backspace on the wheel you choose, if you go for a wider wheel/tire combo.
I've got enough room that a 9x30 slick would fall on the car. There is no way, without moving the rear. Some of the A body guys have to do that too. A 70 series may be too bug around to fit in the stock lication. Moving the rear back gives it a cool race car look.
I’ve been looking at them and the Auburn Deluxe 1000-15’s they are a touch narrower but they have an old school pie crust sidewall more squareYou could try the Hoosier quick time. I'm guessing it won't have the bite of a drag radial.
