There is no irrefutable numerical definition of a "hoard" of things because it is all perception and opinion. Therefore one man's collection is the jealous man's hoard.

As an example: any conversation that starts with, "but why do you need so many" is rooted in opinion and not math.

My wife considers my collection of OEM '69 GTX trim and parts a "hoard." Anyone who owns one of these cars will have a different opinion.
 
If you have a car with parts that can be hard to find, it makes sense to collect spare stuff when you can find it.
