My 68 Charger came with factory power drum brakes. I rebuilt all the drum brakes and had the booster rebuilt by a service in California but the brakes have never felt that great. Now that I replaced the 383 engine with a 440, I decided to upgrade the braking system. I went with the disc brake kit sold by Classic Industries (part #MN5000). This turns out to be a kit sold by Classic Performance Products. It includes spindles, rotors, loaded calipers, hoses and a power booster/master cylinder.

1963-74 Mopar B & E-Body Complete Power Front Disc Kit

CPP Part #6374CBK-S

Cost: $719

The kit showed up in 3 different boxes and the spindle and brake assemblies are HEAVY! Each spindle/disc/caliper assembly weighted 54 pounds! Has anyone installed one of these on a 68 B Body?

The spindles and calipers look like they will be pretty straight forward. The booster looks like a possible nightmare with the pedal linkage and running all the brake lines. Especially since the brake lines all come together on the left frame rail underneath everything.

The knuckles, calipers, rotors etc look to be all based off mopar 73-76 A body stuff, which most kits are, but that master/booster/proportioning valve looks funky to me. I’d prefer to us the right stuff style booster and master which most closely resembles oem mopar stuff and just utilizes a proportioning valve for the rear line only.

Yep. I like the knuckles, rotors and calipers with my kit, but after comparing the booster/mc they sent me to the one in the Right Stuff kit, I wish I had known about it, I would have gladly spend a little more money and went with that.

Fyi, the CPP boosters are notorious for not working. If you can come up with a vacuum source, get some in it and see if it holds vacuum. Find out before you install it and find out it's a dud. Some others have had them hold vacuum, but they offer no boost capability. A friend of mine just went through that on his 68. Ended up getting a good booster from Doc Diff.

Have to agree, those booster kits are junk. Get a real bendix dual or those new repro's ..

I had manual drums on my 69rt with 6 pack. Never had a problem with stopping. Quality shoes and adjusting them is the key. JMO I hope your new setup will make you happy.

Replacing the spindles was pretty easy. I like that you don't have to undo the lower ball joint or steering linkage, just the upper ball joint and the 2 big bolts on the backing plate. This is the puller I used on the upper ball joint. This kit does away with the castle nuts and cotter pins on the backing plate. They supply bolts with lock nuts. The new disc brake rotor comes with wheel bearings that are already pre-greased!
