I have never changed a gear box before so please bear with me. This is a picture of mine in the car. It leaks pretty bad at the seals, and the steering is loose, so I want to replace it with an exact duplicate. Can anyone steer me in the right direction as part number, manufacturer, and company where I can purchase one. A remanufactured one is totally acceptable. Also I want to change the coupling. Is there anything else that I would need to change it out? Many thanks in advance. 1967 Plymouth Satellite

Last portion should help you.

I recently put a new Lares 11033 box plus their 12112 pump and 176 pressure line adaptor on my 67 wagon. Works great. If you have oe exhaust, it's a direct bolt in. If you have headers like me, Hedman's on a 440, you have to thump some tubes for it to fit. #3 and #5 needed a little persuasion. Otherwise straightforward. If you have a similar engine/exhaust combo, I can give you some install tips. Also you can go with the Borgeson box, get it from BAC[ one of our sponsors]. Many people use them too and are happy with them. If you decide to go rebuilt oe, stay clear of using parts store rebuilds unless you're a glutton for punishment. Steer and Gear, Firm Feel, Redhead and Lares all do excellent rebuilds on oe boxes.

Yeah, is there a reason that you do not want to have it rebuilt? Steer&Gear in Ohio or there's a place up in Minnesota.

Steer N Gear has some quality issues. If it were my car I'd go Borgenson. Contact Bergman Auto craft they are a sponsor here.

You save weight and space and get accurate steering.

I installed a Borgeson box in a friends car, it was one of the best improvements to his Charger. I’m getting ready to install mine hopefully this Spring.

That would be Lares. Rebuilt stocker or their own new of their design. I have the new on my 67 wagon.

Firm Feel rebuilds them stock or you can go Stage I, II or III for tighter and better steering. Since you are yanking the box out for a rebuild, I would suggest contacting them and upgrading to a Stage II for street driving.

I put a borgeson on the charger for the to solve clearance issues due to headers, works fine. I put a Lares on the 66 coronet because it's stock. No problem with that one either. I recommend both depending on application

You don’t need to change the coupler. They are easily rebuilt with commonly available kits.
