69 Bee - Power Steering Gearbox

I have already rebuilt the pump, purchased new lines etc. The engine out and this is easy to get to. I have no idea if the internal condition, tho no visible leaks.

I would hate to it put it back in and there be issues with too much play etc etc

I do have a kit with new o rings. Not much online that I could find, but how difficult to IRAN? Should I just swap out with Steer and Gear or similar? Not interested in Borgeson for this car, trying to stay close to original.

Advice much appreciated from those who “have been here done that”.

While it's all apart I would put a FFor S&G gear in it, yes. You can do it later, how difficult depends on whether you have headers.

I put the original box back in my RR. Replaced the small seals under the pitman arm, turned the adjuster screw in the top down to where it touched and backed it off about 1/4 turn, flushed it out good and ran it. It works pretty good. Just all depends on how much it was used in its past life I suppose.

I've had the box apart and replaced all the seals and the sector shaft bearings.
Not very difficult, setting the preload of the thrust bearings is tricky (if you take it that far apart).
New thrust bearings are not included in any kit I'm aware of, and setting old bearings too tight can cause tight spots in the steering.
Cleaning everything was time consuming and messy.
