Just replaced the power steering box in my 66 Satelite.
Was primarily for a leak.,,, but also partly due to how it drove. It seemed to dart around a bit on crappy roads. Like the box had a lot of excessive play in it. I tried to adjust the box but no matter which direction I went it made no difference or got worst.
So,,,I bought a reman box. Got it finished today and not sure of the issue I am having. It makes no sense

Just drove it and noticed drives a little better but has a noticeable difference in the power assist in required effort from left to right. I honestly dont remember if it had this before or not.

Turns left super easy,,,, but requires a good bit more effort to turn to the right. Not manual steering effort but definitely more than the opposite direction

Jacked it up thinking for sure I had a valve off center.
But started it up and steering wheel stays rock solid in the center while up, I turned the steering wheel and I can notice an effort difference even while jacked up in the air with both front wheels hanging

Some of the balls inside the steering box housing may be worn more than others.

Either that or a bent shaft.

I don’t read much good about FLAPS rebuilt PS boxes. Checking the valve position is about all you can do without digging into it. I think Steer & Gear or Firm Feel are probably the best direction to go but it costs more bucks.

I could be wrong.....
Whenever I've done a steering knuckle, before I attach anything....I make sure that the position of the "slip joint/rag joint" is as close to middle as possible. In other words: count the turns from what would be "full right" to " full left" and set it in the middle of that travel. Attach the pitman arm with the wheels facing straight.

It could be that the knuckle is a half, or full turn, to the right.

Just trying to help
