Pretty Bold Talk From Volvo

About 1982(had my 69 Coronet 500)i went to Sears Point one weekend to watch IMSA road races. The days of the Lola T700 GTP coupes. Rick Mears was piloting for Jack Roush in the 1600 cc Mustang(impressive win) in a lower class & 1st gen Mazda RX-7's were running same class. The Mazdas put on a hell of a show & had a great sound. What i remember clearly is that where everyone else got back into the power AFTER the apexes of corners, the Mazdas already had their feet jambed back into the power BEFORE the apexes. The finish was Mears 1st, Klaus Ludwig 2nd in the other Roush Mustang, 3rd, 4th, 5th the Mazdas.
In GTP, the win was Danny Ongais in a Lola T700

In a way they do. The conventional internal combustion engine is designed to provide enough power to move a vehicle. Hybrids use an internal combustion engine that is only designed to provide a charge to the car and it does not move a vehicle. The electric motor does that.

Actually, what you describe is an electric car with range extender. A hybrid, by definition, uses various combinations of its engine and electric motor (depending on conditions) to motivate the vehicle. That is where the term hybrid comes from. Hybrid drive, or an amalgamation of multiple propulsion systems. An electric car, in contrast, is a car propelled by one source, electric motor.

In any case, it is certainly splitting hairs. They will continue using gas engines, not abandoning them.

Volvo and Subaru are liberal cars, check it out next time you see one, look at the libs driving them with the bernie sanders stickers on it, just sayin

We have had freight trains that have operated on the same principal since the 1960s. Only thing new here is battery technology of which we do not own the raw materials to build.
So is this really energy Independence? Then to BS about lithium being environmentally safe?
Someone's lining their pockets and again the dumb asses in Washington are not thinking beyond their own pocket books.

Over this way, the Volvo's are driven by weirdo's, while Subaru's are driven by criminals, low-life drug-dealers and fuckwits....and are usually kitted out with a skank-whistle.

Are they going to use induction motors, brushless DC motors, or something else?

I think the Human race will phase itself out before 2050.
...says Al Gore. Thanks to American ingenuity (fracking), we are now energy independent and are a net exporter of oil and natural gas, plus we've had the corner on coal for decades. No sir, fossil fuels are hear to stay for a long time. Let's hear it for the internal combustion engine!

Has production jumped up that much in 2017? Last year, there were still nearly 5 million barrels per day net imported.

About 200-400 years to ne exact. They are a finite resource. By then they will be used up. Because they are non-renuable. (Created from plants accumulated during the Carboniferous Era, 100 million years before the dinosaurs.) They age of the sail will make a come back. But we'll be dead by then so who cares(Sarcasm).....
Electric cars use every bit as much fossil fuels as a gasser . Personally I think diesel technology is the real green clean energy technogy.

Energy arguments aside, what I want to know is, what will Volvo do about it's diesels and Trucks? I'm in the Midwest and at least 10-15% of the trucks on the road are Volvo. Are they just going to abandon a large portion of their clientele to appease liberal fucktards? Who is running their books, Jeb Bush? Lol

I'd think it's likely that Volvo Trucks, as well as Volvo's other truck brands (Mack Trucks, UD Trucks and Renault Trucks) will stay separate from the car line. Only the name will be the same. Sort of like the difference between Rolls Royce cars and Rolls Royce jet engines.

Not quite
It was a car I would probably say the same motor though

Interesting, according to Wikipedia, Volvo is owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding Company, the parent of Chinese motor manufacturer Geely Automotive, a Chinese multinational automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Hangzhou. I wonder if all those Yuppies know that their Swedish cars are really Chinese?
