I bought a complete 1978 Dodge 440 engine to put in my 64 Dodge project a few years ago. I tore it partially down for inspection and some changes including a 6 qt aftermarket oil pan. After putting the engine in my car, using 68-69 HP exhaust manifolds, I tried to put the oil dipstick tube back into the block. It would go in about 1/2 way and firmly stop. I messed with that thing several times and no success..Why? same tube, same block. Yesterday I had a friend check it out as my vision is not so good. no go as he tried different ways . Finally he pulled the tube out of the block and saw the problem. The new oil pan partly obstructed the tube hole. WTF ?? A little notch ground in the tube and problem solved! It's the little things that make a person crazy ! .............................MO

I had exactly the same thing happen when installing a visor on my DD. I tried and tried. Wife comes out and looks at it and says there's and obstruction I couldn't see. Two minutes and the problems fixed.
