On my 69 Charger I am in the process of detailing all the quarter window components. I have a new roller kit on order. Couple of rollers are basic and understandable on rebuilding. However there are two roller mechanisms that have small steel rollers with a plastic roller fixed in a ball stud. How are these removed and new rollers installed. Figured I would ask before destroying.

The ones with the 2 nylon rollers, one on each end, on a ball stud, come already assembled in most kits.

I guess I will have to wait for the kit to get here. The pictures made me ask. The ones I see look to be the double roller on a stud with a clip to retain the second roller. At least that is what the picture shows. This picture shows the ones I question the most.

Thanks. I tried earlier today and they did not move. Granted I did not want to ruin anything so my effort was minimal. Once I get the replacements I will hopefully get the gist of how they go. Thanks again.

The bushing pair in the second pic when you get them will be a little fatter than the originals. I filed about .020 off each flat side so the lockrings snapped in right and everything was free. All the rollers were just a little different.

Yes that internal lockrings makes it fun to get 50 year old nylon off, a heat gun and a small puller works, or cut and break them. If your originals are good and not cracked reuse them, the new ones are a little different, like everything.

Take your time when you remove these, the originals just fit nicer in my opinion.

The clips came off easy with a 90 degree pick. All my rollers are ok. I just do not know how worn they are. Just figured this being a nut and bolt restoration I would update them. Just like you saw there are differences. Most of these restoration parts are mediocre at best. I call them CCJ. CCJ= Cheap Chinese Junk.

You have that right, I am in the same boat. I use some of the stuff, modify some off it, and use the originals when it fits/works better.

If I was you I would look real close at the one with 2 nylon rollers, the one that swivels...that one really likes to break, the others look great.
