I like the bench seat in my RR, but it looks its age and I need to stop sitting on springs at some point. I will need to take it out and work on it.

I was thinking about what I could use in the meantime while I work on the bench. I want to use those plastic seats from Summit because I kind of like a hard chair, and because I can have a different color besides black if I want, and because they are simple and cheap. Would it be possible to install those and brackets that will slide back and forth without doing any welding or fabrication? Thanks.

Okay I have been doing some reading. You can try to use to the existing outboard holes, then drill the inboard holes and use big body washers on either side for support. That's cheating, but it would be temporary and my car is beat up anyway, so I wouldn't feel that bad about drilling 4 holes in the floor. There hasn't been any carpet in there for a least 20 years, so that helps some. Need to study it some more.

I have been working on a pair of 2003 Sebring Convertible seats to install in my '68 Satellite convertible. The seats have built in 3 point belts, and the Driver's side has 6 way power adjustment. I was able to make simple brackets to mount them using the factory bracing for the front mount and making some plates to mount under the floorpan for the rear mounts. This required a few extra holes, I plan on using plugs to seal up the factory holes..... It took a few trips to the Pic-A- Part yard to get a decent set, paid $85 for the pair....

So I'm not trying to be smart, but why spend the extra time and money with a temporary seat? I suggest you get all the things you need to fix your bench seat first. When you pull it out, then fix it immediately and put it back in. This saves the cost and modification time needed for the temporary seats. So, cheaper overall cost and no extra holes to worry about...

You are wise, but I am thinking as soon as I take the bench seat out and start messing with it, something will break and it will take a while to sort it all out. Haven't made up my mind about anything yet, though.

Satellite, those look nice.
