Look into some community college courses machine tech.
see if you even like it 1st
Or maybe try & volunteer somewhere
if someone is willing to take you on show you the ropes...
Might be a "Tough deal" with liability insurance etc.
good luck
I am semiretired have been since 1997, @ 38 years old
I worked consulting for a while after that, with my old
customers contacts/contracts, I did facility management/construction...
I went to school to be an Architectural Engineer & mech. Engineer...
I tried working for a Truck fabrication shop, design & building areal equipment
for PG&E, municipalities/cities areal equipment, for 2 years...
I went from the floor as a tech/welder fabricator to New Build Production/shop manager...
After 2 years of seeing the Gen. Manager squander all I did & earn
I left, I had enough, I went back into consulting for construction & remodel projects
for the same now huge 125 facilities automotive dealership group, that
I worked for before...
I just didn't have my heart in it anymore...
They went public, traded on the stock market, too many penny pinchers...
I know I didn't want to do any commute or travel
"been there done that, no more thank you"
I raced a shitload back then & wanted all my weekends off to drag-race...
After I moved up here in 2007, after 10 years of doing Golf business
in Rancho Murieta & instruction, or mini tours as a Pro...
I tried doing machinist work for a local little CNC shop
up the hill close from me...I worked for free, just to learn, I figured if nothing else I could see
& learn another skill, cool fabrication & skill to have...
I worked for a little over a 2 month period,
I couldn't stand the monotony, repetitive stuff, great people to work with,
it was cool to produce stuff, but it was boring between steps...
I walked into the office, it's not a big shop only 5 total employees
& me, I told the owner guy "I don't think it's for me"...
He said "I did great for someone that didn't do any type of CNC stuff before
& he wished I would stay, that he wanted to offer me a full time job,
he knew I only wanted part time work & I was in it to build cool racecars stuff,
he just didn't know how much I wanted"...
turns out it was going to be about $1000 a week fulltime,
not bad for the work, I just didn't think it was for me...
I got bored quick, it's long story,
I only say that I'm Semiretired, because I'm not old enough to get
collect Social Security, then I will retire for real...
As you can see I've tried to find another niche'
I keep falling back to construction or consulting stuff...
Among numerous other occupations, I did 2 jobs at a time for a long time...
I made great $$$, after I semi retired it wasn't about $$$
I wanted to find something I loved doing...
I once thought Golf or dragracing was that thing...
Good luck what ever you decide...
