A name any true hockey fan will, and should, know. One of the greatest players of the sport ever. He was the star of the great Montreal Canadien teams which always seemed to win the Cup. I was fortunate to see him play during my youth. Not only a great player, but by all accounts, a great person. He is to hockey, what the names Petty, Garlits, etc. are to the auto world.

saw that.....a true great and the best MAN in hockey....way before my time but I know enough to know!!!

R.I.P. On a side note, I really miss the dignified celebration after a Cup win. "Les Habitants" (sp?) sure had a classy way to do the traditional skate with The Cup.

Rip! Great player!

I'm not a huge Hockey Fan but hearing about this man and the class, allegiance and dedication he exemplified really spoke to me. A couple examples:

He played for Quebec city and was loyal to the fans so even though the Montreal Canadiens wanted him badly he continued to play for the B team for 2 years until the Canadiens had to buy the whole league to force him to come over.

He declined an appointment to be Governer General of Canada by former PM Jean Chretien because his daughter was recently widowed and his family needed him.

The only words that come to mind are STAND UP GUY! Don't make em like that anymore

RIP

Beliveau was one of the best hockey players on arguably the best professional hockey team ever. He played on 10 Stanly Cup winning teams during his career with the Canadians. They were the class of the league in the 60s. I never got to see him in person but I remember well watching him on TV back in the day. Great player on an awesome team. RIP Mr. Beliveau.

Growing up a Boston Bruins, he was our Nemisis....
Truly a pioneer and great spokesman for hockey

God bless his family!
