Radiator upgrade for a 1970 Charger

I got one from Mega Parts, fit pretty good, on my thread.

ECP for sure. I'm running their 26" with a factory style shroud and 7 blade fan... I painted mine with Eastwood radiator paint

That looks nice. I do wonder though...Is there any advantage to painting the radiator black or was it done simply for the sake of appearance? I just got mine today and really like the natural finish.

:xscuseless:

I just sent speedcooling a email with a few questions. I like their products. My Champion radiator is leaking and the shop claims they can't find the leak to fix it.

Keep us updated on your experience.

Just an FYI I think it took a day or 2 for them to answer my email, called next time and got answers right away.

Was purely for looks, I wanted to keep a stock looking engine bay

Just got off the phone with Frank. Great guy to chat with and you can tell he stands behind what he sells. Ordering this weekend.

Ya he was a great guy to chat with, he asks the right questions and like you said he’s confident in his product. Do a search on ecp here on the
forum I think @dieseldazzle started it and recommending buying up as many as possible before the price goes up lol.

Before switching to an electric fan set-up, I made a shroud out of sheetmetal on a brake. Painted it black an it was an exact fit to my radiator. Moving to North Carolina required an Aluminum radiator, Flowkooler water pump and an electric fan.

You have high humidity there?
Here in Sacramento, the humidity is rarely above 30%. I've driven this car in 100 degree heat numerous times and it has never overheated. It currently has a 26" Griffin crossflow with 2 rows of 1 inch tubes. WP is a Mopar Performance aluminum with ??? number of impeller blades... No shroud. I have ran a 5 blade fan and a 7 blade, both with viscous drive/clutch.
The only time the car has started to boil over has been when breaking in a new cam in the summer. Running at 3000 rpms in a 95 degree garage with only a K-Mart house fan in front of the car...NOT exactly the best in airflow.

Did you receive your radiator?

Any updates?

Hey Bill.
Yeah, I got it and it looks great. I got sidetracked with work and another car project but aim to get back to the Charger next week. First up, radiator swap. I plan to use both the radiator ATF cooler and the external ATF cooler. The Water Pump housing will get swapped to the new LH aluminum Mancini Racing version, new Milodon Water pump & thermostat. 7 blade fan with clutch, A/C style alternator brackets, restored pulleys for crank and water pump.....THEN I begin the A/C installation.
This should be fun. First off, I want to weigh the car before I change anything. I estimate that the swap will result in a net gain of less than 25 lbs. I'm anxious to see...
