I'm lucky I made it.
No helmets
No car seat- no seat belt either
Recess fights were common, good exercise
We drank Tang and survived
We passed around liquid Mercury in school - it was cool
They put mercurichrome on every little scratch
My Aunt had a new GTO convertible - she was cool (yep she still has it)

Can't imagine what the 50's were like

They are powered with electric motors. The diesel engine runs a generator and is goverened on demand AFAIK......................MO

Me too, all of that except the GTO, Uncle had a 69 RT, too young for Woodstock. If someone had shown me a bike helmet in 1965 I would have laughed at them. My parents had a big Ford Econoline extended back van that was bare inside. All 6 of us, plus 4-7 neighbor kids would pile in and ride to the ice cream stand. Like pinballs back there. Great fun. Dad would get arrested today for that...lol.

Nothing like a V-16 for smoothness Even if it is a 2-stroke. Cornpatch is right, the drive motors are electric but the diesel is always running to spin the generators. Besides the mufflers and spark arrestors, the turbocharger also dampens the exhaust.
