(Old Grandpa voice from Simpsons)
"When I was a boy, we had these things, called telephones. And everyone had a telephone. They were connected to wires, and we put them in the kitchen or laundry room.
When they rang, you'd come running in from the chicken coop cause you knew you were only gonna get seven rings.
If you had a farm you had an outside bell.
This gadget was a a drive-through phone with a cord long enough to get all the way up into a semi-truck, kids. You could put coins in it and talk to anyone anywhere and no one needed to know who you were, where you were, or have any kind of account with any service provider. It was like the old days if the wild west.
You could call up someone and ask if their refrigerator was running and then tell them to go catch it."
Then we learned to blue box the system and it became this s###.
