That 900, would would beat me, especially with Herman at the bars. Weight might have been a factor. I heard at one time the KZ had the most deaths of any street bike, at the time. I also had a Voyager 12, that was a cruiser, but would get it pretty good. I never liked the 13, just looked out of balance, style wise. Kinda thrown together look.1000 LTD was one of the finest bikes ever built. There was nothing faster in its day. Around 90 horses of hard pull. Great choice!
The 900, 1000 kawasaki and the 750 Honda were motorcycles that would run forever and simple in design, in my opinion. You can throw in the Honda 500, and 550 from the 70's also. That 900, would would beat me, especially with Herman at the bars. Weight might have been a factor. I had a friend who had a KZ900 back in 79-80. He’d put that thing on the back tire and go through all the gears, and not miss a beat. Come down and was gone! I had a 1000 LTD, I never even thought about pulling a stunt like that. Herman, truly was a wild man!

The 750 was fun in a street bike, but it would scoot in the dirt, I know. A little heavy, but so are Paris to Dakars.I had a friend who had a KZ900 back in 79-80. A sad story here. I was doing a kitchen and bath for a family about 15 years ago. We started talking about bikes, he said he wanted to get a Hayabusa. I asked if he was into crotch rockets, I wasn’t. He said no, he hadn’t ridden much of anything. I never saw a bike around so that didn’t surprise me. I said Dale, you don’t want to start out on one of these, it’s the fastest thing out there. He was convinced that’s what he wanted, nothing anyone would say could change his mind. About 5 months later, I read in the newspaper, he was killed on that bike, on his block, hitting a tree head on at about 80. He left behind his 2 kids and his wife. I talked to his wife after, she actually saw what was left, after the accident, it had tore him to pieces, and decapitating him.The Suzuki Hayabusa was the fastest bike I have EVER ridden. I don't like , no, I hate bikes you have to lay on to drive and lean to turn. This bike was to much for me. When the handle bars are as low or lower than the seat, there is no comfort, as far as I'm concerned. This thing will peel the skin back off your face with neck breaking speed and break your back leaning over it to drive. If I remember right, this bike was one of the reasons they limited the top speed a new bike could go. I would rather drive a full dresser around town than this. For running around town, a sportster way my bike of choice.
