This 1895 building was the first skyscraper in Savannah, Georgia. While today it might not seem that tall, it towered over the neighborhood when completed. Built as the Citizens Bank (now Propes Hall of Savannah College of Art and Design) and designed by Swedish-born Atlanta-based architect Gottfried L. Normann. The first fireproof building in Savannah incorporates building techniques of skyscrapers in much larger cities.
